Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

We’ve outlined below the items that we include in every project to improve the findability of your site. These items are the building blocks that are necessary to include on the site before any SEM campaign is formalized.

  1. Add a robots.txt file: this prevents search engine “bots” from indexing content you don’t want indexed, such as 404 pages, directories of files or images, login pages, etc.
  2. Create an XML sitemap: generate a cross-search engine listing of the pages on your site that you want the search engines to be aware of, how important they are and how often they change.
  3. Add the ability to manage title, meta keywords and meta descriptions to each page.
  4. Add a custom 404 and 500 page: write a friendly “page not found” that helps users find the content they were looking for. Direct them to pages you’d like them to see.
  5. Add the ability to manage title and alt tags to all images and media
  6. Add a favicon to site: this best practice is to help visually identify your site to the user.
  7. All JavaScript will be moved to bottom of page or we will use external JS cache files.
  8. Optimize page elements and modify content with the proper html tags
  9. Evaluate old links, 301-redirects.
  10. Make sure the site has no broken links and is web standards compliant.
