Portland Online CMS Audit
Project Overview
The City of Portland, under the direction of the Office of Management & Finance, has begun a refresh process of design elements, content management tools and applications related to its official website, PortlandOnline. An audit to help identify key service areas for improvement and focus the priorities of the refresh profess is the essential first step.
The City selected Swipht to audit the functionality of the Content Management System (CMS) tools and training related to its official website, PortlandOnline. Swipht is set with the task of implementing audits and assessments based on industry best practices, citing specific examples in PortlandOnline and making recommendations for improvements, protocols, and policies.
Swipht recognizes that a CMS is the foundation of any well-designed, data-driven website. Before performing the website analysis, Swipht first discussed all functional and non-functional requirements with the participating team to be sure that everyone understands the website’s current issues and shortcomings. Swipht then performed a detailed examination of 12 identified core areas, ranging from the editor’s capability to SEO friendliness.
Swipht completed the audit and made recommended changes and upgrades to the system. The audit documentation contains technical upgrade specifications, theming engine recommendations, wysiwyg options, feature upgrade recommendations and training options.
