National Service-Learning Clearinghouse Drupal CMS

Company Overview

Learn and Serve America's National Service-Learning Clearinghouse (NSLC), supports the service-learning community and everyone interested in strengthening schools and communities using service-learning techniques and methodologies.

The Clearinghouse maintains a website with that provides timely information and relevant resources to support service-learning programs, practitioners, and researchers, and national email discussion lists intended to encourage discussion and the exchange of ideas. The Clearinghouse also maintains a growing library collection that is available to Learn and Serve America grantees and sub-grantees. NSLC capitalized on Swipht's Drupal expertise when they decided to move their site from an obscure CMS to a Drupal implementation.

Solution

Confronted with a limited budget and a specific deadline, Swipht successfully produced a strategy for moving the existing system into Drupal CMS, migrating the existing content and integrating their existing in-house applications. In addition, Swipht was tasked with configuring the searching collections using a Google Mini and porting existing, legacy applications from PHP4 to PHP5. Swipht concluded the project with training documentation, test plans, and transition support that enabled user acceptance and go live to be as smooth as possible.

Results

NSLC was impressed with Swipht’s capabilities. As as result, they have requested another phase to replace existing applications and move their functionality completely into Drupal using both a series of core and community modules and custom development. Swipht continues to support their use of Drupal with a flexible Maintenance and Support agreement.
