Your project is unique and your needs differ from anyone else. This can mean that the estimated cost for your end project can vary widely from other similar such projects. However, you probably also need a good idea of how much your project is going to cost and we are definitely able to pull together some averages for CMS website migrations

A Typical Project

You have a website, either static pages or on an outdated CMS, that you want to move into a more feature-rich, current CMS like Drupal or Concrete5. You would like to rework the new CMS information architecture, integrate its current design with your old CMS, and have their current content (roughly 500 pages) migrated into the new system.

Swipht uses our delivery process model (SDPM) with 4 phases: Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition. These phases are iterative and naturally feature a lot of overlap. Overlap enables one phase to be succeeded by another without the preceding phase reaching completion. This built-in flexibility aims at realistically meeting your potentially changing needs by actively anticipating those unknown variables inherent to all real projects.

  • Inception
    Includes: stakeholder meetings, Scope and Vision document, communication plan, resource requirement documentation.
    Estimated: 24 to 48 hours
     
  • Elaboration
    Includes detailed information architecture, custom feature review, technical requirements analysis and documentation; an accurate cost estimate and delivery schedule.
    Estimated: 40 to 80 hours
     
  • Construction
    Includes: page prototypes (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), server setup and configuration, CMS setup and configuration, page template and navigation integration, page creation, custom page functionality development, migration strategy development, migration of primary page content and linked assets, ongoing quality assurance testing.
    Estimated: 150 to 250 hours
     
  • Transition
    Includes: deployment to production servers, manage DNS records, go-live customer support, training and help documentation.
    Estimated: 40 to 60 hours

PROJECT TOTAL: approx. 254 to 438 hours

Rate Structure:

Consistent with industry rates, Swipht’s rate structure ranges from $85 per hour (reserved for non-profit organizations) through $150 per hour for development. We offer you the choice of a single, blended hourly rate or a range of hourly rates that are based on the roles of individual resources.
