Software cost estimation and control is a complex activity that requires knowledge of a number of key attributes. Accuracy depends on how well the relationships existing among scores of parameters that can affect the outcome of a project are understood. During the project’s initial discovery period, various estimating techniques are used to assist in the cost estimating process. We know that the success of your project depends on a good estimate and that is why we spend the necessary time up front discovering all the requirements before we commit to a specific estimate.

This session was dedicated to how a company like Swipht could take advantage of local and hyperlocal searching that users are doing more of each day. I had very little mindshare on local searching, as for me it consisted mainly of using Google Maps. But local search entails much more than that, and, as the 3 presenters explained, local search can transform a business.

Alright, a more technical session. So far SearchFest 09 has done a really good job of getting talented people in the search sphere. This session had 3 speakers, Aaron Kahlow of Online Marketing Connect, Susan Moskwa of Google, and Vanessa Fox of ninebyblue.com, and I was satisfied that they gave good technical tips to improving rankings. First, let's start with the rel attribute. According to the W3C, the rel attribute describes the relationship of the current document to the linked one. Most common use of the rel attribute is for css: <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/styles.css" /> That's saying /css/styles.css is the stylesheet for this page. Easy, right? There are many other relationships, which can be found on the W3C site.
